Start the New Year with a Winemaker's Dinner hosted by Bertrand Ambroise

Tuesday 13 January 2009

Bertrand began his professional life with the far more humble ambition of wanting to be a shepherd rather than a winemaker. After completing one year in an agricultural school, a new fascination of wine took over. At the Lycée Viticole de Beaune, as well as studying viticulture and winemaking, he also met his future wife who at the time, was also involved in wine studies at the college. Life, from then, was almost straightforward as Bertrand took over the Domaine and began to press ahead with making the most delicious red and white Burgundies, largely around Nuits Saint Georges.

Looking across the family’s many plots of vines throughout some of the most desired and expensive land in Burgundy, 70% of them are farmed organically and in the remaining 30% they practice sustainable viticulture and integrated, natural pest management. The vines age from some 7 years old for their latest acquisitions up to a venerable 108 years.
